(a) CH3COOH acetic acid
(b) CH3CONH2 acetamide
(c) CH3COOCH2CH2CH2CH3 1-butyl acetate
(d) (CH3CO)2O acetic anhydride
(a) H2O
Mixing acetyl chloride with H2O would just be dissolving it into solution, and you would get
Cl- and CH3COO-
There would also be some CH3COOH (acetic acid). This would be in equilibrium with the CH3COO- (acetate ion).
(b) NH3 (excess)
CH3CONH2
“acetamide” or “ethanamide”
(c) 1-Butanol and pyridine
CH3COOC4H9
“Butyl ethanoate”
(d) CH3COO minus , Na plus
acetic anhydride
