It’s readily available in the lean muscle meat of the prey. Also it’s abundant in the heart and gizzards of poultry. That’s why cooking meat for cats is not good as cooking destroys or degrades the taurine.
Taurine is available in high amounts in organ meats, especially heart, and in clams. It gets destroyed at very high heat which is why the manufacturers have to add it to cat food.
