Becoming a Vegan? What foods do I need to still be healthy?
I am going to try for a week, so I need to know what I need to fill in for all the animal things I eat daily, like meat and dairy products. If you could give me a food schedule for tomorrow, that would be great.
. Give me advice and tips, please! BTW, I am 14 years old and 85 lbs. Let me know what I need to do to stay healthy! BTW, I am trying this out because of animals <3, so help me out!!! Thanks

Since you’re only 14, it’s a little dangerous to become vegan. You need a lot of calcium and protein, and vegans don’t eat dairy products. I suggest you at least continue to drink milk and eat yogurt along with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Meat gives you iron, and you need iron for energy level and brain development. If you don’t get enough iron, you can become anemic — you will look pale and have low energy level.
Consider gradually becoming a vegetarian by cutting down on the amount of meat that you eat and by eating more vegetables. Keep drinking milk and eating dairy products. No animals are killed or harmed in the production of milk. If you are concerned about the quality of the dairy cow’s life, buy organic milk.
If you insist on a vegan diet, you will need to focus on three nutrients — calcium, protein and iron.
Calcium:
Eat tofu and broccoli, and drink calcium-added soy milk and orange juice. Be sure to eat citrus fruits or drink juices with Vitamin C along with your calcium. The Vitamin C helps your body absorb the calcium.
Protein:
Eat beans (especially lentils) combined with brown rice. The reason for the rice is that your body needs 9 different amino acids (the building blocks of protein) in order to grow tissue. There is no one vegetarian source that contains all 9. Beans are one of the most protein-rich vegetables, but they do not contain all 9 amino acids. Adding rice gives you the missing amino acids to form a “complete protein.” You should also consider the many fake-meat products that are based on soybeans and wheat protein. You can find them in the health food section of the grocery store.
Iron:
You can get iron from spinach and a handful of other vegetables, but you probably should take a daily multivitamin that contains iron.
Mushrooms – for B12
Kidney Beans – for Protein
Chickpeas – for Iron
Soy Milk – for Calcium and Iron
Hi. You make a great choice! So for sufficient protein you can eat soya products (that don’t have any dairy or eggs in them), tofu, beans, lentils, vegan fake meats and seeds. For sufficient iron you can eat green vegetables, dried fruits and fortified vegan breakfast cereals. You could also take an iron supplement if need be. For calcium, you can consume calcium-fortified orange juices, fortified soya milks, green vegetables like broccoli and spinach and tofu. Green vegetables are very healthy and are full of antioxidants that can help protect you against cancer. Lactose is a milk sugar. Cochineal is crushed-up beetles used for red or pink food colouring. It is also listed as carmines. Some fake meats may have milk or egg in them, so you just need to read labels. Good Luck!
