New Year (vegan) Feast!

We took a traditional Northern new year’s day meal and gave it a vegan and mildly Southern twist.
Instead of pork chops, mashed potatoes, sauerkrat and apple sauce, I subbed some baked chickpea cutlets drenched in vegan homemade brown gravy. OMG.
Reminded me of the best chicken fried steak with brown gravy (I hate cream gravy, don’t hate me Texans…) that I have ever ever had. Wow.
Chickpea patty recipe based off of Veganomicon’s recipe, horseradish mashed potatoes made up in brain, gravy from this swell vegan recipe and sauerkrat… from a jar (with a bunch of extra apple cider vinegar thrown in for extra kick).

What a nice surprise after a dreary Monday to come home and find a new book at my doorstep! I’ve already made a ton of dishes from www.veganyumyum.com so of course I had to buy the book! Can’t wait to experiment even more vegan recipes.
