Yes it is. It’s there because the factory or equipment is also used to make non-vegan items. The equipment is thoroughly cleaned between uses – or the company wouldn’t survive – and the disclaimer is put on the product to cover the manufacturer’s back in the extremely unlikely event that a minuscule particle of one type of food remains in the air and gets into another type.

The warning is intended not for vegans but for people with allergies. That’s why so many products say it may contain traces of nuts and/or sesame seeds – very common allergens, as are milk and eggs. The manufacturers don’t want to be sued.

they say that in case someone is allergic.

Yes. The machinery is generally flushed and cleaned in between the production of different items/products. They put that on there because I think they’re required to(if the cleaning is not 100% effective, which happens at times of course, people with exceptionally acute allergies may have reactions. For this reason, some vegans choose to avoid products which say this.)

Generally speaking, vegans do not take this as a marking of something they will not consume.
